The ghosts of the dead characters come back to the living world, each one for their own reason, to finish unfinished business in the living world.
Mason Lockwood comes back as seems to get revenge on Damon but ends up helping him, Jeremy can finally touch Anna, a thing which eventually ruins his relationship with Bonnie.
In the meantime Lexie tries to help Elena to bring the old Stefan back within the small amount of time she has before Bonnie destroys Elena's necklace, which seems to be the cause to this mess.

Terra Nova Season 1 episode 5-The Runaway

Terra Nova find an orphan girl in the woods claiming she was looking for the portal back to 2149.
The girl seems to be a run-away "Sixer" and Jim and Taylor try to find out if she can be trusted, while they try to find out who is the Sixers spy in Terra Nova.
Reynolds asks Maddy out and Mira plans to regain a valued possession buried in Terra Nova.

While following one of MMA fighters who practiced in the victims gym Steve breaks his arm and so has to fight in the charity UFC fight in which the player was supposed to fight in.
Joe calls an NCIS Agent to help with the video they are investigating showing Steve's father, Governor Jameson, and Wo Fat but ends up trusting the wrong people as Wo Fat pays a visit to Joe's house.

The Vampire Diaries Season 3 episode 5- The Reckoning.

Despite all that has happened, Caroline is determined to see that Elena, Bonnie , Matt and Tyler all enjoy a traditional Senior Prank Night before the school year begins at Mystic Falls High School.  However, when uninvited guests show up , it doesn’t take long for the evening to take a deadly turn.  Damon convinces Jeremy that he can use his new connection to the other side to help find a way to defeat Klaus. It is found out that Terra Nova was built right on the grounds of a Pterosaur breeding ground. Jim and Taylor must find a way to stop them from taking over the colony. Jim discovers that Elisabeth's former college flame, Dr. Malcolm Wallace, now in Terra Nova, may have recruited her. Josh spends more time with Skye and later is unable to get money for a guitar he wants and is reminded of his girlfriend and bandmates he left behind. Maddy suspects that Reynolds may be interested in her and asks Jim for advice.

Terra Nova Season 1 episodes 1&2- Genesis.

In 2149, police officer Jim Shannon is sent to prison for six years for assaulting another police officer and having a third child with his wife in a society where families are limited to two children. Two years into his sentence, his wife is recruited to travel 85 million years back in time to Terra Nova, a prehistoric colony that is attempting to reinvent the past for a better future, albeit with the necessity to co-exist with dinosaurs. With his wife only permitted to take two of their children with her, she helps Jim escape from prison so that the whole family can travel back in time. Once on Terra Nova, Jim meets Commander Nathaniel Taylor and ends up in the agriculture group. 
The enemy group called the Sixers is introduced and Jim gets promoted to security guard after stopping a captive Sixer from assassinating Commander Taylor. Josh meets a girl named Skye and her friends and they sneak out of the Terra Nova compound into the forest. They discover a series of mathematical equations by a waterfall. As night falls they prepare to return to the compound and realize that their vehicle's power cells have been stolen by Sixers. They are attacked by a pack of Slashers (a name given to the fictional Acceraptors) and have to be rescued by the Terra Nova security team.
